Can you believe I was lucky enough to have two newborns in one weekend? I can hardly believe it myself!!! Here is a sneak peek from my session with Mr. Carter. Click on my Newborn Page to see the rest of his sneak peeks!

Can y’all believe it’s been seven months since I’ve posted? I’m sure y’all are just dying to know where Cynthia, the photographer, has been! Well… I’ve been putting down #2 only to pick up #1. Changing poopy pants and dirty diapers. Picking up legos so that they can be dumped right away. Rushing out of the house just to remember I forgot the bottles. Kissing boo boos and baby cheeks. Getting #1 back to bed by 2:00am just to be awaken by #2 at 2:07am. But let’s be real, I’d play each crazy day over and over again just to keep them forever my babies! Yep, I’m talking about you! [[why are bathtub pictures so cute?]]

Needless to say, I’ve been busy! I’ve been trying to stay somewhat relevant and have been so fortunate to do a few shoots here and there when the stars align. Since I won’t be going back to blog about every photo shoot I’ve done, here are a few sneak peaks. Be sure to check out my photographs page to view them all.

Hey Jude (sorry, I couldn’t resist!!)

I had the opportunity to shoot another precious, little newborn — Jude. Lucky me!!! I’m telling y’all, there’s nothing like photographing a newborn! I’m in love! Isn’t he just perfect?

For Jude’s session I wanted to try something I’ve never done before; shoot with a macro lens. Before committing to a macro, I decided to rent one to see if I even liked it. Turns out I do, and here’s why:

I love that it captured, in the most detailed way, each little baby part. The parts we don’t want to ever forget about! Each wrinkle on his tiny hand, the most delicate eyelashes, where the umbilical cord fell off not too long ago, even the cute little bumps on the nose and flakes on the skin! I love it all. I think it’s safe to say I hope to invest in a macro lens soon.

I had such a great morning with this little man and his family. Here are a few more pictures from our morning together.

It’s hard to believe that I became a mom 2 years ago to. Bane is one of the most fun-loving little guys that I know. If he’s not upset because he wants “mo cheese” you can betcha that you’ll catch him laughing and smiling. I never thought a one- (now TWO) year-old could make me laugh so much.

For Bane’s second birthday, I wanted to make sure I incorporated his favorite thing in the world, tractors. If you know Bane, you know he has a very limited vocabulary, but “truuuuck” and “tractor” are two words that the little guy does know. We went to grandma and grandpa’s house where they have the land and the tractors for this photo shoot, and it did not disappoint. I think if I ever go pro, I’ll need a set up like theirs to capture the type of setting I love to photograph in (or at least the type of setting Bane likes to photograph in 😉 ). I had so much fun taking these photos! Check them out..

husband: “Let’s name him Bo”

me: “Absolutely not”

A few months later, we welcomed our second child, Bo Andrew. I hadn’t originally planned to do Bo’s newborn photos because I am my own worst critic, but with the holidays around and my mom in town, we decided I should take a stab at it. Remember my dear friend, Audrey Michel, I told y’all about in my blog, LETTING THE TRIFECTA COME TOGETHER FOR MANUAL MODE? She did my firstborn’s, Bane’s, photos to absolute perfection and I will forever be grateful to her. Here are a few of my favorites:

I wanted Bo’s photos to have the same look and feel as Bane’s, so I went through them and prepared myself. First, I loved the photos with the bright light behind us, so I knew I’d need to overexpose them a bit as to wipe out the lines in the windows. So, remember that meter I talked about a few posts back? I did a few practice shots at my window allowing my meter to go towards the + sign in my camera. Second, I wanted to use all natural light. I made sure I was shooting in the morning when the sun would be shining perfectly through the windows. Here are how the photos turned out, what do you think?

WHOA! Sorry for the photo overload! Do y’all think I captured the same feel? I hope so! Audrey did an outstanding job with Bane’s newborn photographs and I can only hope to be as talented and skilled as she is one day!

Now, I will end with my favorite photos.

haha!! I’m so excited to watch these boys grow up wrestling & loving each other!

♥ Cynthia

p.s. Can you believe how much my boys look alike? I’m going to have to write dates and names on all of my photos so I don’t get them mixed up!

Remember that maternity photo shoot I did in the snow with my sister-in-law? Well… on December 5th my beautiful niece, Ava May, came into this world making Lyndsey and Jeff first-time parents! Luckily, my brother and sister-in-law allowed me to photograph Ava’s newborn photos! I get so excited and honored to be a part of such a special time in a family’s life.

I believe I have solidified who I am most passionate about photographing, newborns! I can’t explain how it feels, but I definitely get most excited about newborns. Maybe it’s the way the new mom looks so lovingly at the baby she carried for nine months, or how tiny and precious the baby looks in dad’s arms, or watching dad handle baby ever so gently and protectively, I could go on… I know from experience how fast they grow and to be able to give a mom and dad photos of their newest addition at their most innocent time in life is amazing and so very fulfilling! I believe newborn photos are some of the most cherished photos.. or at least they have been for me! So, before I go overboard about how much I love this part of my beginner photography, I introduce to you…. Ava May!
